PURPOSE:To enhance the safety of a turbo machine and to attain to reduce maintenance cost, by allowing a detection piece having the same material quality as a detection member to expose to the piping wall of the turbo machine and detecting the advance of the abrasion of the elastic wave vibration detection sensor provided to one end of said piece. CONSTITUTION:An abrasion detection piece 71 having the same material quality as a moving blade 1 is mounted on the flow passage of a turbo machine containing the moving blade 1 and a stationary blade 2 in the upstream side thereof. When an operation is started to allow fine solid particles to collide with the detection piece 11, high frequency elastic wave vibration is generated in the detection piece 11 and measured by an AE sensor 12 and the effective value thereof is calculated by a RMS meter and integrated by an integrator to detect the abrasion degree of the moving blade. Therefore, the abrasion progressing state of the moving blade or a blade wheel 8 is detected without stopping the turbo machine and the safety of the machine is enhanced and maintenance can be reduced.
