PURPOSE:To improve running durability and to make higher-density recording by superposing a plasma-polymerized film contg. C or C and >=1 kinds among H, N and O on a base and further superposing a magnetic layer contg. planar magnetic powder and -prescribed fatty acid ester thereon. CONSTITUTION:The plasma-polymerized film contg. C or C and >=1 kinds among H, N and O and adjusted to 30-100atomic% content of C is superposed to about 5-80Angstrom film thickness on a base. The magnetic layer consisting of the planar magnetic powder of hexagonal ferrite such as BaFe12O19 and compd. curable by radiation is then superposed thereon. The grain size of the magnetic powder is made <=0.2mum and the ratio to the thickness (planar ratio) is preferably >=12. The surface roughness of the magnetic layer is selected at <=0.08mum. The fatty acid ester of monobasic satd. or unstad. fatty acid of 10-22C and monohydric satd. or unsatd. alcohol of 2-22C, for example, butyl caprate is provided thereon. The disk medium which has excellent running durability during use and permits the higher-density recording is obtd. by such constitution.
