PURPOSE:To attain image communication even at a fault of the titled equipment by allowing a transfer means to apply transfer based on an output from a fault detection means. CONSTITUTION:In detecting a call signal from lines 11a, 11b, the line having a call signal is connected to a facsimile equipment side and a protocol is given. Whether or not the facsimile equipment has a fault is judged and when a fault exists, image data is transferred. The the image data is received and recorded and if a jam takes place during the reception of the image data, reception recording is stopped. Thus, even when a fautl exists on the way of reception or even when the facsimile equipment is in the state of jam or shortage of recording paper, the image data is transferred to an indication location and the original image is received by the operator.
