PURPOSE:To improve the work efficiency considerably by using a code input key group to input characters other than characters corresponding to a character input key group. CONSTITUTION:The first converting means which converts numeric codes inputted from the code input key group to the code expressing a prescribed character and the second converting means which converts address information from the character input key group to the code expressing a prescribed character are provided, and code input key groups l1-l3 are used to input characters other than characters corresponding to a character input key group 18. The first and second tables 16 and 17 are connected to a CPU14 of a register 1, and characters to be inputted can be inputted directly with the character input key group 18 as well as with code input key groups l1-l3 in the program mode of the register 1. Thus, characters whose frequency in use is high are inputted easily with the character input key group 18.
