PURPOSE:To shorten the time for operation and to heighten efficiency of maintenance work of a software system by making confirmation of existence of an objective program of patch in the software system before making patch execution and thereby eliminating reading jump operation of a patch correction record. CONSTITUTION:A user inputs a start command necessary for patch execution by an inputting means 1 and starts execution of patch. Control is shifted to an existence confirming means 2 by starting of patch execution, and the existence confirming means 2 reads program name record from objective program of patch information 5, and searches a software system 7 making the program name a key. After completion of searching, the existence confirming means 2 transfers control to a judging means 3 together with confirmation information. The judging means 3 judges existence on the basis of the confirmation information, and when not exists in the software system 7, returns control to the existence confirming means 2, and when exists in the software system, transfers control to a patch executing means 4. The patch executing means 4 inputs patch information from patch information 6 consisting of a program name record and a patch correction record, and corrects the objective program of the software system 7.
