摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic polyester excellent in heat resistance, melt moldability, bending strength, impact strength and resistance to high-temperature hydrolysis, comprising a p-hydroxybenzoic acid component units, specified aromatic diol component units and aromatic dicarboxylic acid component units. CONSTITUTION:50-80mol% p-hydroxybenzoic acid component (A) of formula I (wherein 1,4-bonds predominate but 1,3-bonds may also be contained), 10-25mol% aromatic diol component based on 1,4-dihydroxynaphthalene or 1,5-dihydroxynaphthalene component units (B) of formula II (wherein -Ar<1>- mainly contains a group of formula III or IV and may partly contain a 6-15 C bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon group) and 10-25mol% aromatic diol component (C) based on terephthalic acid component units of formula V (wherein -Ar<2>- mainly consists of a group of formula VI and may partly consist of a 6-13 C bivalent aromatic group) are reacted with each other at 200-450 deg.C at normal pressure to a vacuum of 0.1mmHg to obtain an aromatic polyester having a melt viscosity of 10<2>-10<6> P as measured at 300-450 deg.C and 100sec<-1> and a softening point of 250-400 deg.C.
