PURPOSE:To enable the culture of gamma-linolenic acid-producing microbial cell in high concentration and to improve the production efficiency of gamma-linolenic acid, by culturing a gamma-linolenic acid-producing strain in a medium added with pantothenic acid compound or pantothenic acid compound and a thiamine compound. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain capable of producing gamma-linolenic acid such as Cunninghamella elegans, Absidia corymbifera, etc., is cultured under aerobic condition in a medium added with 0.01-100mg/l, preferably 0.1-10mg/l of a pantothenic acid compound such as pantothenic acid, calcium pantothenate or said pantothenic acid compound and a thiamine compound such as thiamine, thiamine hydrochloride, etc. |
