PURPOSE:To attain recording and reproduction to recording media of different track densities by adopting a structure in which a core for recording/ reproduction/erasure is arranged on both sides of a recording/reproducing core and, further a core for tunnel erasure is arranged on the side. CONSTITUTION:The recording/reproduction gap 2 and the recording/reproducing/ erasure gap 7 are arranged on the same line. In applying recording/reproduction to a wide track, the recording/reproduction gap 2 and the gaps 7, 7 in common use of recording/reproduction/erasure are used for the recording at the same time and gaps 5, 5 for tunnel erasure are used for tunnel erasure. On the other hand, in applying a narrow track, the recording/reproducing gap 2 is used for the recording and the gaps 7, 7 for recording.reproduction/erasure are used for the tunnel erasure. Only the recording/reproduction gap 2 is used for the reproduction. |
