The invention concerns a load-bearing structural element which can be rolled up, a method for producing it and also its use as a support element in constructional works that can be assembled and dismantled. The structural element consists of a strip-shaped, double- curved shell of a thin-walled elastic material. The shell is deformable essentially under isometry between a state 1a in which it is rolled up in the one direction of curvature of the shell and a state 1b in which it is rolled out into a double-curved arch shape able to bear loads, where a further straightening of the arch under isometry is not possible and a loadable state is obtained. The structural element can be produced from sheet metal by means of rolling plane or single-curved sheet metal strips, the strip being given a longitudinal extension differentiated in the crosswise direction, which gives rise to the double-curved shape. The structural element is especially suited for use as a support element in constructional works that can be assembled and dismantled, such as protective roofs, lightweight bridges, tents, etc., and can thus be included as an integrated part of a structural element that can be rolled up or constructional work. <IMAGE> |
