A lock having a plate 2 to be laid against the closing edge of a door and possessing on the inside and outside a multiple hole 9 intended for the introduction of the key; the teeth of the lock bolt 4, which are designed to mesh with the single or double bit of a key, are of a number at least equal to the sum of the number of displacements provided for the lock and of the number by which the length of a displacement is to be multiplied in order to correspond to the maximum distance between two introduction positions provided for the key. The edge of each of the grooves, which is intended to cooperate with the relief of the bit of the key to allow the actuation of the lock by the corresponding key, is repeated in relation to each of the introduction positions for the key which are provided on the hole.
