The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for producing a sample stream for continuous automated analysers which are used, in particular, in clinical chemistry, the management of water resources, agriculture and in industry. It makes possible the alternative carrying out of flow-stream analyses and flow-injection analyses using one automated analyser and, in flow-stream analyses, the increase of the sampling rate and the lowering of the reagent consumption. According to the process of the invention, defined sections of the samples are extracted from the primary sample stream and the intermediate spaces thus formed are filled with other liquid sections, in the case of flow-stream analysis additionally with air, and a new sample stream is thus formed. The introduced liquid sections are, in flow-stream analysis, rinse liquid sections and defined, likewise extracted sections of the samples of a second similar sample stream and, in flow-injection analyses, reagent sections and/or carrier liquid or rinse liquid sections. To carry out this process, a multiple switching valve having five switching positions is inserted between the multichannel pump and the analysis line of the sample treatment or reaction station. |
