<p>PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously produce a novel polymer useful as a germicide, high-polymer medicine, paper treating agent, flocculant, etc., at a low cost, by polymerizing a specific guanidine derivative in the presence of a polymerization initiator. CONSTITUTION:A guanidine group-containing polymer, obtained by polymerizing a guanidine derivative expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are H, 1-18C alkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkylene, alkylenecarboxylic acid or 6-8C aryl; X is inorganic or organic group) alone or together with an allylamine expressed by formula II in the presence of a polymerization initiator having azo group and nitrogen- atom-containing group which is cationic or capable of forming cation in the molecule, e.g. 2,2'-diamidinyl-2,2'-azopropane hydrochloride, etc., and, as necessary, reacting the resultant polymer with an acid and containing guanidine group expressed by formula III (Y may be absent and indicates acid; m>=10; 0<j<=1).</p> |
