PURPOSE:To decrease the required amt. of a flux by tentatively assembling tubes and fins which are coated with a brazing filler metal on the surface of either thereof, then heating the assembly in an atmosphere where oxygen does not exist and allowing the heated assembly to cool. CONSTITUTION:Solder consisting of a tin-lead alloy is clad by a means such as plating on the surface of the tubes 1 and the flux is coated on the surface thereof. Plural pieces of the tubes 1 are arrayed and the corrugated fins 2 are disposed therebetween. Core plates 5, 6 are inserted to the top and bottom ends of the tubes 1 and both sides of the tubes 1 are grasped by jigs to complete the tentative assembly. Such assembly is heated for and at the prescribed time and temp. in a furnace of the atmosphere of an inert gas such as N2 or Ar or vacuum where O2 does not exist to melt the brazing filler metal. The assembly is thereafter rested for the specified time in the atmosphere where O2 does not exist to solidify the brazing filler metal. The tubes 1 and the fins 2 are thus joined.
