PURPOSE:To reduce an abrasion loss in a friction member as well as to prolong the extent of life frequency, by installing a chamfer at both ends of the surface opposed to a center line of a feed roller of the friction member. CONSTITUTION:Paper sheets 7 pressed toward a pickup roller 5 by a presser plate 6 are fed toward a feed roller 1 by dint of turning force of this pickup roller 5. When a topmost paper sheet 8 passes through a friction member 2, it is deformed as far as an l size portion so that it is pressed to the friction member 2 due to its own rigid force, receiving frictional resistance of the member. An end of the friction member 2 is chamfered at an angle theta, and since this angle comes to the same angle as a deformed angle of the paper sheet 8, a surface of the paper sheet 8 comes into contact with the friction member so wide enough. Therefore, frictional dimensions come little, and reduction in frictional resistance due to a drop in rigid force with deflection reduction of the paper sheet 8 is also reduced so that life frequency delivering these paper sheets piece by piece is enlargeable.
