PURPOSE:To enhance high sensitivity, especially, high intensity reciprocity law failure characteristics by sensitizing an emulsion containing silver halide grains with at least one of sensitizing dyes having a 5-membered hetero ring composed of N and Te atoms between carbon atoms. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide grains having (nn1) faces contained in the silver halide emulsion is sensitized with at least one of the sensitizing dyes having a 5-membered ring hetero composed of N and Te atoms between carbon atoms. The crystal is all composed of the (nn1) faces and has the form of a trisoctahedron, and each of the outer faces has an obtuse triangle. Two kinds of a pices of this triangle exist, each of a1-a6 is equivalent to each other and each of b1-b8 is equivalent to each other. The apex a1 contacts with 8 faces, and the apex b1 contacts with 3 faces. Two kinds of sides also exist, 24 sides equivalent to a1b1 and 12 sides equivalent to a1a2 exist, thus permitting adaptability to the sensitizing dye containing Te to be improved, and photographic characteristics, especially, high intensity reciprocity law failure characteristics to be enhanced. |
