PURPOSE:To inhibit erroneous information from being outputted by discriminating the position of a body to be measured from the incidence position of light made incident from the body to be measured to the photodetection surface of a detecting element and calculating a speed, and inhibiting an output when the quantity of incident light is lower than a specific level. CONSTITUTION:The light made incident on the photodetection surface of an optical position detecting element 11 moves accompanying with the motion of the body to be measured, and its output is supplied to a subtracter 14 and an adder 15. The output of a divider 16 which inputs the outputs of the subtracter 14 and adder 15 shows the incidence position of the light to the photodetection surface of the optical position detecting element 11. A differentiator 17 outputs a signal corresponding to the speed of the body to be measured to an analog switch 18. An output inhibiting means 31 which includes the analog switch 18 and a comparator 19 outputs a signal which indicates the speed and position of the body to be measured to output terminals X and Y only when the irradiation energy of the light to the photodetection surface of the optical position detecting element 11 is larger than a specific value. |
