PURPOSE:The titled resin, obtained by polycondensing a condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with a formaldehyde addition condensate of xylene, etc., in the presence of an acid catalyst and having improved resistance to oxidation and thermal decomposition as well as moldability. CONSTITUTION:A resin obtained by polycondensing (A) a condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, e.g. naphthalene, phenanthrene, anthracene, etc., with (B) a formaldehyde addition condensate of xylene or mesitylene in the presence of an acid catalyst, e.g. hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid, phenolsulfonic acid, etc.
