NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R<1>-R<4> are H or lower alkyl; A is (lower alkoxycarbonyl-substituted) imino or O; X is morpholino, piperidino, etc.; Y is H, cyano, etc.; Z is imino or O; R<5> is H or halogen; when R<5> is H, then X is 1-oxidothiomorpholino and Y is H]. EXAMPLE:8-( 4-Piperidinylamino )-2-methylthio-4-thiomorpholinopyrimido-[5,4-d] pyrimidine. USE:Antiulcer agent and antithrombotic agent. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I wherein R<5> is H, Z is imino and Y is alkylamino can be produced e.g. according to the reaction formula by reacting the starting compound of formula II with the compound of formula III in an inert solvent such as THF in the presence of a base such as pyridine at 20-100 deg.C and reacting the resultant compound of formula IV with the compound of formula V under the same condition as the former reaction.
