PURPOSE:To accurately and easily find the strain of a curved surface body by computing the positions of three marks added on the curved surface and the quantities of linear displacement of the mark positions based on image data obtained by picking up images of the marks from two predetermined points. CONSTITUTION:A video camera 1 is installed on a turntable on a fitting base 4A through a Y table 2 and an X table 3 in order. Those Y table 2, X table 3, and turntable are rotated by stepping motors 7, 8, and 9 to pick up images of the three marks 5 on the curved surface body 5 by the video camera 1 from the two points. The obtained image data are stored in a frame memory 11. A microprocessor 12, on the other hand, reads the image data out of the frame memory 11 and processes the image data on the three marks as to said two positions to determine their center of gravity, thereby finding the quantity of linear displacement from the center of gravity as a mark position. While this result is confirmed on a monitor 13, the value of the strain of the curved surface body 5 is measured.
