PURPOSE:To improve measuring accuracy without effect of disturbance, by measuring directly the surface temp. of a casting billet by pressing a rotary roller on the casting billet. CONSTITUTION:At the time of carrying the casting billet A along the line, the surface for the temp. measurement is cleaned by a roller 7 having a wire brush and next the surface temp. measurement is executed by the rotary roller 1. By rotary roller 1 as supporting by a supporting member 5, the temp. measuring elements 2,... arranging on the outer margin, that is, the welding parts of constantan wires 2a with the steel-made rotary roller 1 are brought into contact with the billet surface, in succession. In the welding part, the electromotive force is generated in accordance with the surface temp. of the casting billet A and the electromotive force is caught by brush and introduced to the out part by a lead wire.
