Laser rangefinder

A laser rangefinder which consists essentially of a transmitter, which emits a pulse, and of a receiver which receives a portion of the reflective radiation after it has been reflected on the target, the pulse propagation time representing a measure of the range. In order in this case to provide start-trigger signal production which is insensitive to interference and makes it possible to determine the trigger time as accurately as possible, at least one further detector element is provided in the immediate vicinity of the detector element which is provided for the remote echo signal, which further detector element reacts to radiation which has admittedly been emitted by the transmitter but has not been reflected by the target, but is scattered within the housing.
