A beehive has a box-shaped, upwardly open lower part on which a cover is placed. One of the side walls contains an entrance hole, via which the bees can pass into the interior of the hive and which is partly directly filled with natural filling material such as turf, mulch and the like. At least one of the side walls consists of a breathing, climatically compensating material in order to provide a humidity compensation which prevents the filling material from turning mouldy.
