Compact electrical stepping switch

The stepping switch, which is provided with a latching mechanism (5), has at least one stator core (1) to which at least two contact carriers (2) belong which are located one above the other and each of which combines a plurality of stationary contacts (3) of a contact plane in an insulating body (21). The stationary contacts (3) are constructed on the radial inner side of the contact carriers (2) as contact tongues (31) and are arranged on a circular arc. A round switching positioner (4) is supported between the contact carriers (2). This round switching positioner (4) carries at least one contact link (10) which is used for the purpose of connecting at least one stationary contact (3) of one of the contact carriers (2a) to at least one stationary contact (3), which is located above it, on the other contact carrier (2b). A particularly simple and maintenance-friendly construction is achieved in that the external diameter (A) of the round switching positioner (4) is equal to or less than the diameter (B) of the circular arc which is formed by the free ends of the contact tongues (31). A retaining ring (7) which is supported by the stator core (1) of the stepping switch surrounds the switching positioner (4) in a centring manner and creates a connection for it, which connection holds it such that it can rotate on the stator core (1). <IMAGE>
