The filter press has an automatic filter cloth spreading apparatus for removing the filtrate residues and for washing the filter cloths. For this purpose, two filter cloth frames are permanently connected together by bolts. During the draining position, these are two immediately adjacent frames, during the washing position, two frames lying on one filter plate.
