The hollow pin is intended to incorporate a provisional or definitive post crown or a post abutment immediately if and when required. A root canal treatment can be completed or renewed owing to this pin at a later point in time without having to loosen the post crown or the post abutment again. On insertion, the cavity of the pin can be sealed with a gutta-percha or plastic pin or a Perlon thread in order to prevent fixing agent from entering the cavity. Use of the hollow metal pin considerably reduces the risks and disadvantages for the patient which may arise on use of a solid metal pin.
