A paraglider which is formed from flexible materials, can be inflated by the incident flow and has a wing top and a wing bottom which are connected by means of structural elements such as material webs, strips, cables etc. which limit the separation, such that a wing shape (aerofoil shape) is produced in the inflated state. In the case of known paragliders, the actually existing profile deviates severely from that predetermined by the ribs (4), as a result of which the gliding ratio and the speed are reduced. The number of ribs cannot be increased indefinitely, since the weight and the packing volume would otherwise become excessive. According to the invention, all or only some of the separation-limiting structural elements are arranged over only a part of the profile depth, to be precise preferably in the nose region and in the rear third of the profile depth. In consequence, a good approximation to a profile which is uniform in the span direction is achieved at a low cost. The device is used for jumping out of aircraft, for hang-gliding after a running take off from a slope or for towed flight.
