NEW MATERIAL:The linear oligoester of formula I or cyclic oligoester of formula II. USE:It has metallic ion capturing activity. It exhibits similar activity as natural ionophores, and has antibacterial activity. The compound can be used as pharmaceuticals or agricultural chemicals, and also as an ion sensor taking advantage of the cationic selectivity. PREPARATION:A cyclic oligoester of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furancarboxylic acid is prepared beforehand. The hydrogenation of the furan ring and the hydrogenative decomposition of a part of the ester bond are carried out to obtain a linear oligoester and a cyclic oligoester at the same time, which are separated from each other by column separation technique. The above reaction is carried out using rhodium/activated carbon catalyst and a hydrogenation solvent such as tetrahydrofuran, ethyl alcohol, ethyl acetate, etc. The amount of the rhodium metal of the rhodium/activated carbon is at least 5-10mol% based on the monomer unit of the cyclic oligoester of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furancarboxylic acid. |
