A double casing lining for tanks, containers or basins consisting of concrete or steel sheet is described, wherein the internal layer is relatively thin and flexible whereas the second lining layer arranged on it is relatively thick. This second lining layer consists of a plurality of plates which are separated from one another by expansion joints, and the expansion joints themselves are bridged in a flexible and sealed manner by suitable expansion joint profiles. As a result, a very sturdy lining is obtained which withstands high loads and ensures secure sealing for a long storage time even in the case of very different thermal expansion coefficients of the container material and the lining material.
