The invention provides a dental cutter which is fitted with a cutting tool movable through joints and sliding surfaces in the three spatial planes and in which the support column is rotatably mounted in a receiving flange firmly connected to the bottom housing. By simply exchanging the cutting tool for a drill the device according to the invention can be changed to a precision drill. The cutting or drilling depth can be accurately read off a measuring device, preferably in the form of a clock gauge.
