Ethylene and alpha-olefins are homopolymerized or copolymerized with another olefin monomer in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a transition metal containing catalyst component which is the solid reaction product produced by contacting A. The dried solid obtained by reacting i. a dry solid, particulate porous support material with the ii. reaction product of a. a magnesium compound, and b. a polysiloxane, with B. a halogenating agent, and C. contacting the halogenated product with a transition metal compound.
