PURPOSE:To minimize charged guantity and discharged guantity of insulating oil and facilitate changeover from parallel operation to single operation by a method wherein an isolated oil layer is provided in a cable chamber in which connecting lead wires which are connected to a cable through an insulating spacer are installed and a conservator is connected to the isolated oil layer through a valve. CONSTITUTION:The changeover from parallel operation of traneformers to single operation is carried out in such a way that a valve 10 is closed and insulating oil 16 in an oil chamber 15 is discharged and the connecting lead wire 4 of the failure side is reaoved from an oil-imaersed spacer 14 and connected to a grounding stud 17 in the oil chamber 15. After that, the oil chamber 15 is filled with a part of the insulating oil in the conservator 9 by using the valve 10. The changeover is carried out by only removing the connecting lead wire 4 of the failure side and connecting it to the grounding stud 17 in the isolated oil chamber 15. Therefore, the failed transformer need not be moved out and the quantity of te oil discharged from the oil chamber 15 can be very small and the work can be done easily and in a short time.
