In the case of the locking device according to the invention for printed circuit boards which are to be populated automatically, the locking pins are in each case fastened to a lever which can move linearly upwards and downwards at right angles to the plane of the printed circuit board. The lever, with the locking pin, is connected to a body which can move in a housing and has a cavity in which a bent plunger can be moved in a reciprocating manner. The inclined planes which are provided within the cavity of the movable body result in the reciprocating movement, which takes place horizontally, of the bent plunger being converted into a linear movement, which runs vertically with respect to the printed circuit board, of the movable body and hence also of the locking pin.
