In the fixing apparatus, in which a piece (1) which is to be screwed on and a continuation piece (5) are held together articulated on one another via a horizontal axis (4), the basketball hoop (21) can be bent down against the force of a spring. In this arrangement it is desirable for the bending-down of the basketball hoop to be enlarged in terms of angle but without the target board being at risk as a result of the springing-back of the basketball hoop. This is achieved in that the basketball hoop (21) is held by means of a spring latch (17, 19) in the horizontal position and can be tilted downwards through at least 45 DEG , overcoming the spring latch, and a tension spring (14), when the basketball hoop (21) is horizontal, engages on the same side of the axis (4) firstly on the piece (1) which is to be screwed on and secondly on the continuation piece (5). A substantially enlarged and thus clearly visible downward tilting of the basketball hoop occurs without the target board being put at risk by the springing-back of the basketball hoop. <IMAGE>
