PURPOSE:To check any variation in a hydraulic fluid quantity being charged, by setting a hydraulic fluid inside a diaphragm forming a hydraulic fluid storage chamber down to such one which has the extent of molecular weight almost equal to external oil. CONSTITUTION:In a space between a rocker arm 20 and a cover body 25, there is provided with a hydraulic rush adjuster 1 which is supported by a supporting body 22a. A high pressure chamber A fitted with a check valve is interconnected to a storage chamber B being surrounded by a diaphragm 5 via a passage 8. this diaphragm 5 tightly seals the storage chamber B, thereby constituting the sealed type hydraulic rush adjuster 1. Engine oil comes into contact with an outer side of the diaphragm 5, while a hydraulic fluid contacts with the inner part, but if molecular weight distribution of both oils is different, an oil molecule comes to permeate the diaphragm in consequence. Therefore, the hydraulic fluid is selected to such one that has molecular weight almost equal to the oil outside the diaphragm.
