Pharmaceutical compositions containing a polypeptide of the cholecystokinin-cerulein group are effective in the treatment of shock conditions and of respiratory and cardiocirculatory insufficiencies. The compositions of the invention may be administered by parenteral or inhalatory route at a dosage ranging from 5 to 20 mu g of active principle per kg of body weight.
