PURPOSE:To measure a flow rate with high accuracy without reducing the peripheral width of a reflection part by counting variation of peripheral width pulses and calculating the flow rate corresponding to the angle of rotation of a rotor. CONSTITUTION:Reflection parts 7 and 8 for a photosensor (not shown in figure) are formed on a couple of noncircular rotors 5 and 6 by arranging reflecting surface parts 7a and 8a and nonreflecting surface parts 7b and 8b alternately to specific peripheral width, and the peripheral width pulses are detected independently of each other. Photosensors corresponding to the reflection parts 7 and 8 are arranged in shift angle relation so that pulse variation is generated when the optical axis of one photosensor passes through the boundary line between the reflecting surface part 8a and nonreflecting surface part 8b of the corresponding reflection part 8 while the optical axis of the other photosensor passes by the peripheral width of the reflecting surface part 7a or nonreflecting surface part 7b of the corresponding reflection part 7; and peripheral width pulse variation is counted to calculate the flow rate corresponding to the angles of rotation of the rotors 5 and 6.
