PURPOSE:To make it possible to reduce viscous drag when an engine is restarted by absorbing viscous fluid in a reservoir chamber by an absorbing member when the engine is at a standstill to reduce the amount of the viscous fluid flowing into a working chamber. CONSTITUTION:Since the centrifugal force is greater than the absorbing force of an absorbing member 11 when an engine is running, a communication hole 8 opens and closes to make viscous fluid flow from a reservoir chamber 6 into a working chamber 5. Also, the revolution of a fan is controlled by discharging the fluid from the working chamber 5 to the reservoir chamber 6 by means of a pump mechanism 10. On the other hand, a difference is produced between the viscous fluid levels 14 and 14b respectively of the working chamber 5 and the reservoir chamber 6 due to the suction of the viscous fluid by the absorbing member 11. Accordingly, the amount of the viscous fluid 15 in the working chamber becomes less so that viscous drag on the fan is reduced when an engine restarted. |
