The invention relates to a polymeric polyamine having a molecular weight of from 1000 to 16000 and containing from 2 to 4 primary amino groups per molecule, the polymeric polyamine being the condensation prodcut of a polycarboxylic acid or ester with a stoichiometric excess of a polyamine having terminal aminopropoxy groups and a molecular weight below 500.
