The axle extension comprises a shaft 1 and two flanges 2B, one end of which is in use fixed onto the hub 3 of the vehicle and the wheel is then replaced at the other end of the device 2B, so as to extend the axle width of the caravan or trailer, thus taking it outside the legal maximum width for vehicles travelling on the public highway and, in addition, makes the unit very difficult to steal by conventional methods. Whilst the device is in place however, the unit remains portable, and can be moved for instance in the case of adjacent fire. <IMAGE> |
