PURPOSE:To improve heat transfer efficiency and to improve the function of a sensor by providing a heater circuit on or in a ceramic layer via a gas diffusion blocking layer and porous electrode in tight contact with the sensor. CONSTITUTION:The porous electrode layers 2 consisting of platinum, etc., are provided on both faces of a solid electrolyte 1 and the gas diffusion blocking layer is provided on the surface of one porous electrode layer 2; further the heater circuit 5 is provided thereon to constitute the gas sensor element. This sensor element is constituted by coating a platinum paste on both faces of the solid electrolyte 1 consisting of stabilized zirconia, coating a metallic oxide ceramic paste or aluminum oxide powder paste to a prescribed thickness on one face thereof after drying to form the dense oxygen diffusion blocking layer and printing and forming the heater pattern with the platinum paste on said layer. The element is finally subjected to a heating treatment, by which the united sensor element is constituted. |
