PURPOSE:To test pieces having shapes of various kinds, by mounting a load means applying load to the test piece by electromagnetic forces repulsing each other and a load pattern setting means supplying an electric signal to the load means. CONSTITUTION:When an AC or DC current is supplied to a coil, electromagnetic forces F1, F2 generated in respective regions across a boundary surface PL repulse each other and the load corresponding to the repulsive force thereof acts on a test piece 1. If the voltage corresponding to a desired pattern is outputted from a load pattern setting device 4, the load corresponding to said load pattern can be applied to the test piece 1. If both ends of the test piece 1 are made free, tensile load can be applied. If both ends of the test piece 1 are fixed, compression load can be applied. Further, if both ends of the test piece 1 are threaded with both inside ends of holders 10a, 10b each comprising a magnetic material having large mass and one coil 12 is wound not only around the holder 10a in the first direction but also around the holder 10b in the second direction opposite to said first direction, load to be applied being obtained when a supply current and the number of windings of the coil are made constant can be further increased.
