发明名称 METHOD FOR FORMING FILM OF HIGH POLYMER LIQUID CRYSTAL
摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain a display element or an optical memory high in performance by mixing a high polymer liquid crystal and a low molecular liquid crystal, by coating the mixed composition on a substrate or by enclosing the mixed composition in a space of between a pair of substrates followed by making it to a thin film, and by evaporating the low molecular liquid crystal component, thereby obtaining an uniform orientation thin film of the high polymer liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal shown by the formula is used for the high polymer liquid crystal having a side chain. The ester type low molecular liquid crystal mixture is used for the low molecular liquid crystal. The mixture 3 of the high polymer liquid crystal and the low molecular liquid crystal is enclosed in a space between a pair of the substrates 1 and 2 which are effected previously a surface treatment such as a rubbing, etc. The surroundings of the pair of the substrates are sealed temporally with a clip or an adhesives through a spacer having a prescribed film thickness. The sealed mixture of the high polymer liquid crystal and the low molecule liquid crystal is heated under a reduced pressure, at about the upper limit temp. of the liquid crystal phase of the mixture for example, 60-70 deg.C, whereby the low molecular liquid crystal component is evaporated, and only the high polymer liquid crystal remains. Thus, the one side substrate of the pair of the substrates which are sealed temporally, is removed, thereby forming the thin film composed of the high polymer liquid crystal.</p>
