PURPOSE:To perform a straightening work in a short time and to improve the work efficiency by making the surface layer of one part of the roll of a projecting roll and recessed roll only easy to wear in a pair of rolls for straightening machine. CONSTITUTION:The surface layer is tempered by heating the surface part of a projecting roll 1 by making a pair of the projecting rolls 1 and recessed rolls 2 as the roll for a steel bar straightening machine. The proper curved face is formed with the wear of the roll progressing fast at the spot where the contact of the material to be straightened is strong, when straightening by passing the steel bar 3 to e straightened between this projecting roll 1 and recessed roll 2. In this way a proper curved face is obtd. in short time and the work efficiency is improved.
