PURPOSE:To compact welding equipment by storing weld end parts of a spacer supporting rod in separate airtight vessels respectively and setting the gas atmospher for the welding and rotating the spacer supporting rod via a rotational chuck. CONSTITUTION:In case the end plugs 6 and 7 are welded to the spacer supporting rod 1, a supporting pipe is pierced through the rotational chuck 14 and a hollow shaft 17 and supported and the weld end parts of the pipe 2 are stored in the welding vessel 13 and the airtight vessel 16 at the non- welding side respectively. Next, a gas-exhaust feeder 19 is actuated in a state that seal parts 15 and 18 are set at the outside air side from water flowing holes 4 and 3 and the insides of the vessels 13 and 16 and the inside of the pipe 2 are replaced with the inert gas atmospher via the piping 20. When the gas atmospher for the welding is set, the pipe 2 is rotated by the chuck 14 and the peripheral welding of weld zones 8 and 8' is performed by a welding torch T. In this way, the welding equipment is compacted to a small size.
