PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. having high adhesion, high cohesive force, excellent repulsion resistance and low thixotropic properties, by adding a specified monomer mixture to an aq. dispersion contg. polymer particles, polymerizing it in the presence of a persulfate, adding a monomer for the post-polymn. stage to the resulting polymer emulsion and carrying out a polymn. reaction. CONSTITUTION:0.05-0.5wt% (based on the solid of the final emulsion) nonionic emulsifier having an HLB of lower than 10 is added to water contg. 0.5-7.5wt% polymer particles having a particle size of 0.03-0.5mu obtd. by dispersing a monomer in an aq. medium and polymerizing it in the presence of a polymn. initiator to obtain an aq. dispersion (a). A monomer mixture (b) which gives a copolymer having a glass transition point of not higher than 250 deg.K and is composed of a C1-C14 alkyl (meth) acrylate and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a COOH group is added to said aq. emulsion. A polymn. reaction is carried out is the presence of a persulfate to obtain a polymer emulsion (A) contg. polymer particles having a gel fraction of 20-60wt%. A monomer component (c) for the post-polymn. stage, composed of the above-described alkyl ester and other unsaturated monomer having no functional group is added to the component A and a polymn. reaction is carried out to obtain the titled compsn. based on the polymer emulsion.
