PURPOSE:To obtain an ultra-high-toughness WC-base sintered hard alloy wire rod capable of bending into a circular shape, by refining the average grain size of WC and hard dispersed phase, by reducing inevitable impurity content and also by refining the inevitable impurities. CONSTITUTION:The wire rod has a diameter of 0.05-2mm and is constituted of a WC-base sintered hard alloy which has a composition consisting of 4-35wt% Co and/or Ni as biding phase-forming component and the balance WC with 1-50ppm inevitable impurities and also has a fine structure in which the average grain size of WC and the diameter of all inevitable impurities are regulated to 0.1-1 micron and <=10 microns, respectively. This WC-base sintered hard alloy wire rod is capable of bending into a circular shape within a radius of curvature of (15-50) X diameter.
