PURPOSE:To improve light emission efficiency by introducing a liquid mixture composed of a sample and reagent into the central part of a cell and extending the stagnation time of the sample and the reagent in the cell. CONSTITUTION:The sample soln. and luminescent reagent soln. introduced from an introducing port 4 into the cell are mixed to react with each other. The liquid mixture flows as a luminescent liquid in a liquid flow passage formed of partly notched partition walls 2-1-2-3 toward the peripheral part and thereafter, the liquid mixture is led to the outside of the cell from a leading-out port 5. The emitted light from the luminescent liquid is transmitted through a transparent window plate 10 and the emission intensity thereof is detected by a photodetector. The notched parts are so positioned that the distance between the notched parts of the partition walls 2-1-2-3 contiguous to each other is longest as shown in the figure (b). The mixing of the freshly entering soln. and the soln. with which the reaction is already effected is, therefore, prevented. The cell is so constructed as to introduce the liquid mixture composed of the sample and the reagent into the central part of the cell and the strong emitted light in the initial period of the reaction is received in the central part of the photodetector by such construction, and therefore the emission efficiency of the chemical luminescent cell is remarkably improved.
