PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the memory of a large capacity and to shorten a processing time by executing the enlarging/reducing in the run length direction of a run length coding image in the form of a run length code. CONSTITUTION:By a run length code segmenting means 1, the run length code of one unit is removed from a run length coding image, by a run length code decoding means 2, one removed run length code is successively converted to the numeric value of the same type picture element, and by an enlarging/ reducing run length calculating means 3, the product of the numeric value of the same type picture element and the given enlarging/reducing value is obtained and the successive number of the same picture element is successively obtained after applying the enlargement/reduction. By a run length code coding means 4, the picture classification obtained from the run length code decoding means 2 and the number of the picture element obtained by the enlarging/reducing run length calculating means 3 are coded to the run length code, and to the run length code image after enlargement/reduction is added. A code removing control means 5 obtains the synchronization of the run length code segmenting means 1 and the run length code coding means 4. |
