PURPOSE:To retard the shrinkage of a separator to prevent internal short-circuit by placing a separator so that its orientation direction is parallel to the short side of a battery in a rectangular flat type battery in which each sealing plate is bonded to an insulating sealing member by heat-pressing to seal the battery. CONSTITUTION:A separator 2 comprising uniaxially oriented polypropylene nonwoven fabric is placed in the center of the inner periphery of a frame-shaped insulating sealing member 1 comprising ionomer resin so that the orientation direction A of the separator is parallel to the short side W of a battery, and bonded by melt-bonding. An electrolyte prepared by, for example, dissolving 1 mol/l lithium perchlorate in propylene carbonate is impregnated in the separator 2. A stailess steel sealing plate 4, also serving as a positive terminal, against which a positive mix 3 is pressed is arranged on one side of the sealing member 1 so that the positive mix 3 locates on the separator 2 side. A stainless steel sealing plate 6, also seaving as a negative terminal, against which a lithium negative active material 5 is pressed is arranged on the other side of the sealing member 1 so that the lithium sheet 5 locates on the separator 2 side. |
