PURPOSE:To decide the presence and absence of a black circle in a short time by largely reducing the number of times of accesses to a picture memory deciding the presence/absence of the black circle and the number of counting steps. CONSTITUTION:The central coordinate (X-2, Y-2) of a 3 X 3 dot of the upper lift half of the deciding area of 6 X 6 dot is obtained. This central coordinate can be simply obtained from the intersection point coordinate after the processing of thinning line. The number of black picture elements SUM is cleared, the address of the picture memory indicated by (X-2, Y-2) is made access, picture data of 3 X 3 dot centering the address are read out and inputted to a transforming table 3. Since there are 8 black picture elements in the upper left half side, the numeric data of transformed data = 8 is outputted from the transforming table 3 and this numeric data is added to the SUM. Thereafter, in this example, the counted value of SUM = 32 of the black picture elements is similarly obtained.
